Welcome newcomers Debra, Emily & Ethel. So glad you could join us!! Lots of fantastic projects in work with everyone. See photos below. :-) Susan Cowley, Executive Director of Talitha Koum institute, a therapeutic mental health nursery here in Waco, TX, chatted about the organization. Waco Knitters & Crocheters donated 71 children's hats that will be given to the local children born into extreme poverty who attend the Talitha Koum school and their siblings at home as well as 6 crib blankets for school nap time. All your contributions will help these children learn what it is to own something that will be theirs to keep in their cubby at school. WK&C will continue to hand knit and crochet hats for newborn thru 5 years old as well as crib blankets through March 2018. If you'd like to help, please contact us! Our next meetup will be Tues Feb 13th at the South Waco Library, 2737 South 18th Street, in the meeting room (front left) from 5 to 8pm (or any part thereof). We will be crocheting a Loopy Scarf if you are interested. Bring your crochet hook size N and novelty yarn of your choice (don't buy any yarn - we have some to share)! All welcome. Free. ROOM CHANGE: We will be meeting in the Conference Room (back left)
Join us Thursday January 25th in the Conference Room (back left) at the West Waco Library (5301 Bosque Blvd #275) from 5pm - 8pm for our biweekly Knitting & Crochet Meetup. Learn to knit or crochet (informal lessons). We will be covering the purl stitch and the double crochet stitch. Susan Cowley, Executive Director of Talitha-Koum, will come to visit. Will suggest that she arrive between 5:30 and 6 to give everyone time to arrive. She'll spend 10-20 minutes sharing about the organization. We will offer Susan the hats and blankets we have hand crafted for them to-date since it's been so chilly lately. Waco Crocheter Victoria will be taking our scarves to Austin for us so you may bring your scarf to Jan 25th meeting or Feb 1 Sip Sup Knit and give to Victoria who has also volunteered to distribute / personally give each athlete a scarf before the Winter Games with Amy.
